One way to prevent any untoward incident or a road accident is conditioning your motorcycle. You can check your vehicle in your garage on your own. Here a few reminders and things to remember in doing so. Visual Checkup
This is as simple as it can get. Look around your motorcycle, and you may see obvious fluid leaks or any other troubles. Examine all the bolts and make sure they’re all intact. All required documents and certifications must be in handy for future use. You can routinely do this before riding out and once you park at home for safety protocols. Battery Your motorcycle will not be able to do its purpose if the battery is not working. Check if the battery is fully charged and in its best condition. The manufacture date of the battery should tell you if it needs a new replacement; if it is nearing the fifth year, then consider changing. Doing a regular battery check prevents any unexpected battery purchase in the future or any battery-related troubles. Tires and Brakes The next most important thing in a motorcycle is the tires. Motorcycle tires are the most common wear-and-tear part. If you have used it for about three years, then you may consider having it changed. Before riding the vehicle, check them for any small holes that will lead to a flat tire later on. Do not over-inflate the tires, and it might cause trouble. As for the brakes, always check the brake pads. It is also advisable to regularly clean the brakes. Brake fluids also need to be checked and regularly filled. The number of years also matters in brakes. Remember to replace the brakes within three or 5-year use. The brakes are vital to condition to prevent accidents. Filters and Controls A motorcycle needs to have clean air and oil filters to prevent any malfunctioning due to too much dust and unwanted fluids. These have to be changed and cleaned regularly. For the controls, the clutch and the throttle must be smoothly operated and adjusted. Check if the cables are worn out and if they are, replace them. Try riding the bike and feel the mechanism of the vehicle. Rechecking It is best if you will double-check everything. If ever you replaced any part of the vehicle, then recheck if it is screwed and stuck on completely. Repeat the visual inspection of the whole motorcycle and ensure everything is in 100% condition. Warm the motorcycle’s engine before taking it for a ride for a longer distance and time. As accidents or any untoward incident is inevitable in riding the motorcycle, remember to have your vehicle insured. The insurance is also for the protection to cover the expenses in case you hit another car. Choose a reliable insurance provider for your motorcycle insurance policy. It's great that you point out that having maintenance performed on your motorcycle regularly can help make it safer to ride. I'm thinking about buying a motorcycle this month, so it sounds like I'll need to find someone to perform maintenance on it for me. I'm going to look for a good provider of motorcycle maintenance services in my area that I can use.

Thanks for explaining why visual checkups are helpful. My brother wants to get a custom graphic for his motocross bike. This info should help him keep the motorcycle in good shape after the work's finished.

Thanks for the tip to check the manufacture date of a motorcycle battery to determine if it needs to be replaced. I am thinking about buying a used motorcycle this summer so I can enjoy road trips. I'll make sure to find a motorcycle that has a battery in good condition.
